Run! Run, as if your life depends on it.

Hi everyone,
we finally arrived in India and found the time and energy to post the below, which we wrote on the plane just after leaving Norway.

Oh boy, what an eventful start into our backpack trip around the world. Today early in the morning, we calculated a little extra time as the airport in Hamburg announced, that there will be a strike of the ground staff starting with the early shift. As we arrived there we saw the people already gathering with their flags and vests branded in union colors… Thoughts like: Will we leave? If yes, will our luggage leave with us? Not to worry… as good Germans we calculated this in. Arrived on time (before the strike was announced – they said it should start around 6 am) – good for us that we were there at 5! 😉 Sleep is overrated anyways. 😛 Continue reading “Run! Run, as if your life depends on it.”

Time to move

This weekend finally marked the end of a couple of very stress full weeks of packing, and throwing away beloved belongings. On Saturday morning we rented a ridiculously huge truck, packed my couch and a couple boxes and started our journey to the north. On a stop at Alice’s, we packed an other couch and everything else and drove all the way to the very north of Germany, where Alice’s cousin and her husband were kind enough to store our stuff while we are traveling. After dragging everything into the basement, we closed the evening with some nice steaks and McFlurrys 😀
Next morning, we got deliiicious eggs Benedict and hurried back to a meet-up of a blogger couple, we were following for the last months and from whom we got some inspirations on where to stop on our trip – it was a very cool evening with a lot of like-minded people and very interesting conversations – really excited to start the journey now! 🙂

One month to go

Today in one month we will be in Oslo and will be somewhere between excitement, fear and release. Especially release is something we are both very much looking forward to as in the next 30 days we will be very busy with selling and moving our furniture and anything else, that doesn’t fit in our backpacks. The truck is rented, the boxes are ordered, some furniture is gone already, but the unsecure feeling, if the rest will be sold in time or if we will need to organize some plan B starts giving me sleepless nights.

The time of goodbyes also has started for me – just this weekend I met some friends knowing, that it’s the last time we see each other for a while. It’s a very weird feeling, everyone is happy, that we make this dream come true and is also a bit jealous, but for us it’s all still completely unreal and that’s why we’re looking forward to being in Oslo in one month, looking down on the fjords and starting to realize, that the most amazing time of our lifes has just began 🙂

Hello world!

Hello and welcome to our blog!

This is meant to be our travel diary and also the place where Alice and I will share our adventures during our one year long round the world trip.

Right now, we are 44 days away from our first flight and the most urgent questions are: How will I get rid of all the furniture? Where will I store the leftovers? What exactly should I pack? And to be honest, those questions create some stress. To procrastinate solving those, I ask myself the more interesting questions like: How to get from Jaipur to Darjeeling? Is there cross-border transport between India and Nepal? Which travel agency should we pick for the trip to Bhutan?

Follow us in the next months and see where this trip will take us 🙂
